![]() ![]() ![]() Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. ![]() When you find the jumper, look carefully. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc. If you don’t have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. By Using Motherboard Jumper:Īlmost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour. It’ll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you’ll need to re-enter all settings. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. THANKS.Almost all motherboards use a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. Lenovo will not gaurentee or inform me of specifically what they can do to fix the problem, when I know and tell them EXACTLY what the problem is and how it was caused. Some suggest removing bios battery for 15 mins and reinstall it for bios to reset? Some suggest a new mother board? Some suggest a recovery disc set-up from Lenovo. I have had it apart on looked internally for a bios battery or jumper switch. I do not want to do something in despiration (I have some last resort ideas) to cause a total loss of use, or make it a cheaper route to just by a new computer. As it stands now my computer is a peice of junk, useless, but if there is a way or step by step process to correct it that has been done on this model then great. ![]() I have had numerous suggestions, but I am not sure which to attempt first. Apparently there is no jumper/dipswitch in my Lenovo G570 laptop. I have talked to Lenovo and some computer wise friends already, and researched on-line sites. So I am confused as to why it even comes up. But the power on or boot password (which I am 100% sure I know) will not take because it has been disabled in the bios menu. Simply put, my laptop defaults to password for booting up, before user password screen will come up. ![]()
